Dubai’s immigration authority has implemented stricter guidelines for tourist visa applications, requiring travelers to submit hotel booking confirmations with QR codes and a copy of their return tickets. As reported by The Economic Times, travel agencies have been directed to adhere to these updated regulations to avoid delays in application processing.

What’s New?

The revised rules now mandate uploading hotel booking confirmations and return tickets directly on the immigration department’s website when applying for a visa. Previously, these documents were only needed upon request by airport officials, but they have now become a mandatory requirement.

Tourist visa applications must now be submitted exclusively through authorized travel agencies, whereas visit visas can still be processed by trading companies, individuals, or families. Despite the difference in submission channels, both visa types require the same set of mandatory documents.

Proof of Finances Now Required

Tourists are now required to demonstrate adequate financial resources. For a two-month visa, applicants must have a minimum balance of AED 5,000 (around ₹1.14 lakh) in their credit or debit accounts, while a three-month visa requires a balance of at least AED 3,000.

Visa-On-Arrival Opportunities for Indian Travelers

Indian citizens with certain eligible documents can secure a visa on arrival for a stay of up to 14 days, with the option to extend for an additional 14 days. The acceptable documents include:

– A valid visit visa or residence permit from the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union.  

– A U.S.-issued Green Card.

Travelers who do not possess these documents must apply for a visa in advance through approved channels, such as :

  • Airlines including Emirates, FlyDubai, Etihad Airways, and Air Arabia.
  • Travel agencies or hotels where reservations are made.
  • UAE residents, such as friends or family, who can act as sponsors for the visit.

 

Available Tourist Visa Options

Dubai provides a range of tourist visa options to suit various travel requirements. These include :

  • Single-entry tourist visas (available for 30 or 60 days).
  • Multiple-entry tourist visas (valid for 30 or 60 days).
  • A five-year multiple-entry tourist visa.
  • Transit visas (valid for either 48 or 96 hours).
  • Visa-on-arrival options, depending on nationality or specific eligibility criteria, such as residency permits from certain countries.

Although the requirements differ depending on the visa type, typical documents include :

  • A recent passport-sized photo.
  • A passport with a validity of at least six months.
  • Health insurance coverage valid within the UAE.
  • A travel ticket indicating an onward or return flight.
  • For GCC residents, a copy of the valid residence permit.
  • For Indian nationals applying for a visa on arrival, proof of residency or visit visas from the USA, UK, or EU.

Visa applications can be submitted directly via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) website or through approved channels, including:
