Every year, up to 1,000 young Indians, aged 18 to 30, can now take advantage of Australia’s Work and Holiday visa program, allowing them to work and explore the country for a year. On Monday, Matt Thistlethwaite, Australia’s Assistant Minister for Immigration, officially launched this initiative in New Delhi.
India became the 50th country to participate in the Australian Work and Holiday program on September 16, 2024. This collaboration is part of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement.
According to the Australian High Commission, the Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa allows up to 1,000 eligible Indian citizens to work, study, and travel in Australia for a year. Additionally, if they meet specific criteria, they can apply for an extension to stay longer under a subsequent Work and Holiday visa.
